The National Association of Minority Contractors (NAMC) 2017 Awards Recipient
A well respected diversity leader who has worked and focused in the fields of diversity for the last 10 years. As the 2017 recipient of the National Association of Minority Contractors Award, Smith was nationally recognized for excellence in her field. Doretha has demonstrated leadership on one of the largest projects in national history. She led as the Diversity Program Coordinator on the Maynard H. Jackson International Terminal project which accomplished over $400,000,000 paid to female and minority owned companies, engaging approximately 160 Equal Business Opportunity (EBO) firms while achieving approximately 40% EBO participation with an EBO commitment of 35%.
As an intricate part of the project, Doretha’s responsibilities included making presentations, monitoring, tracking and reporting EBO participation (monthly), coordinating information sessions, developing newsletters, creating system tools, compiling reports, and being a liaison between the joint venture and the City of Atlanta’s Office of Contract Compliance. Doretha also interacted and developed relationships with the management team, participated in trade show procurement opportunities, maintained documentation of good faith efforts, policies and procedures.
As a graduate of Spelman College, Doretha received an undergraduate degree in Sociology and holds a Master’s of Public Administration Degree from Clark Atlanta University.
